Cornell Bunting Explains How to Overcome Adversities and Live a Fulfilled Life in his new book, Escaping the Darkness

In our lives, everyone is constantly hit with adversities, most of which we have no control over. To overcome these obstacles, it is essential to recognize them as an integral part of life necessary for growth and development, adapt to them and take action. To help people better understand their experience and put it in the proper perspective, best-selling author Cornell Bunting, through his new book Escaping the Darkness, shares valuable lessons to help people overcome adversities and lead successful lives.

In the much-awaited book, Escaping the Darkness, Cornell Bunting talked about the true essence of life as finding a purpose. He explained that finding a purpose in life, a reason to get up in the morning, is a beautiful experience. For a person who has found their purpose, life is beautiful, but life can be an intolerable hell for someone living devoid of meaning. He elucidated that adversities, unavoidable as it is,  come in droplets or gushing like a river. Only a person with a purpose can reframe the moment to make life take on a special meaning.

“Adversity destroys opportunities equally. It does not care about your position in life or your financial capabilities. The wise person cannot avoid it; the strong cannot fight it, the rich cannot pay it off. It will come to everyone in various ways and different degrees. Your challenge, and mine, is to let our purpose guide us through adversity,” he shared. To demystify and overcome adversities, Cornell highlighted lessons from some of the greatest thinkers of our time and how they used the power of purpose to overcome the most significant obstacles by realizing adversity can only destroy you if you surrender to it.

However, not everyone has a clear purpose or plan mapped out for them. For these people, facing adversities, big or small, can be likened to walking through fire. In the book, Cornell encourages them to look past the current crisis and carve a unique path for themselves. “While your purpose in life may not be clear at the moment, you must understand that your path has been determined long before this current crisis. Your path has been carved for you before you took your first breath. However, you may be unaware of the divine intervention that guides our path and leads us to the one great thing that shapes our lives and gives it meaning. Sometimes, adversity is all we need to be reminded of our purpose. Other times, adversity can be the missing puzzle, the fuel that clarifies our purpose,” he explained.

More than just a book, Escaping the Darkness chronicled Cornell’s life experience when he had everything he cherished taken from him. Yet, challenged with heartbreaking adversities as he was, Cornell Bunting found his purpose in the darkness, using his adversities as a stepping stone to escape the dark. With this, he wants to encourage everyone to open their minds to the possibility that amazing things can happen even in the most unusual places. Even in the desert, we can find places of abundance.  Even in the darkness, we can find the light. Even in jail, we can find our purpose. Our job is to have faith and believe that a path will be made for us,” he said.
