Mari Burns was born in Veracruz, Mexico, on September 20, 1966, and completed a degree in Business Administration from her hometown. Meticulous in her studies, Burns received many certifications and licenses, such as Property and Casualty Insurance and Life and Health Insurance, Tax Preparer license, Notary Public License, Professional Bookkeeper Certification, Loan officer license, and Real Estate Agent license; achieving these certifications gave her the confidence to become a real estate businesswoman.
In 2000, she migrated to the USA to pursue a better life and opportunities. Being a Mexican, she faced a language barrier, which rendered her unable to report and articulate incidents where she faced sexual abuse. These incidents shattered her, but Burns is a woman of courage and vigor. She did not give up; rather, she picked herself up and made use of her education, licenses, and skill and started working at a company called Xpert Cleaning Services, where she was employed from 2003 to 2010.
Later in 2013, she started her entrepreneurship career at USA Latino Services, where she was responsible for tax preparation, accounting, and payroll. After garnering approximately ten years of experience in this field, in 2018, she formed ServiAmerica in Vista, California, where she was stalwart in preparing and legalizing immigration petitions. Being a migrant herself, she became an efficacious immigrant agent, insurance agent, and real estate agent.
The multitalented Burns then started her acting career out of nowhere. The self-proclaimed “crazy” started doing theater, local commercials, and modeling. Burns has been featured in short films and TV shows in Mexico and Florida. She also worked as a background artist in many dramas and theater plays. A successful actor is aware of various human emotions, and being a method actor, Burns took many courses such as Reiki, NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming), and Auto-hypnosis to polish her acting skills which eventually paid off when she got a chance to act in movies.
Burns shined on mainstream media through her T-Mobile commercial, and her successful modeling career took off from there. Post this commercial, she worked in many commercials and short films. Her claim to fame is her filmography; in merely four years, she has appeared in more than ten films. Her best work to date includes UNUM: The Series, La Santa Muerte, and Leave ’em Laughing. In 2019, she was a part of the short films Mi Amigo and The Run. She also worked in a couple of television shows, such as Infamy (2020) and Caso Cerrado (2018).
