For many Americans, the year 2020 had been financially, mentally, physically, and emotionally draining. The COVID-19 pandemic touched the United States in January of this past year, and ever since then, life has never been the same. Not only has this global health crisis affected our nation’s economy and government on a large scale, it has also slowed the day-to-day lives of individual Americans to a dead stop. But for one man, being faced with such struggles opened doors to opportunity he had never before imagined.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Eric Chapel has worked relentlessly throughout his life to try and break away from everything that could ever chain him down. Growing up, Eric wanted to prove that if you are thorough in every aspect of your life, nothing can stop you. He lived by the idea that when you do something, you must do it fully; give it your all and you will succeed. And he definitely followed his own advice.
By the time he was 21 years old, Eric had already purchased his first investment property. Driven by his life mantra, Eric was able to push himself toward entrepreneurship, aiming for excellence in all of his ventures. He dove deeper into the investment industry, going on to own a wide variety of businesses, ranging from a shirt pressing company, to a towing company, to food trucks, studios, and bars.
As was the case with many other entrepreneurs, the coronavirus pandemic was unforgiving as it took a direct hit to the economy earlier this year. Business slowed down for Eric, and he turned to other alternatives. With years of business yields and property investments under his belt, Eric felt that it was finally the right time for him to establish something that goes deeper than money. Eric welcomed the challenges that were brought on as he navigated through the uncertainty of the world around him, resulting in the creation of his new music label: Thorough by Nature.
Thorough by Nature was founded upon the same ideal that Eric has carried throughout his life: No matter what you do in life, do it thoroughly. TBN is not simply a record label but a growth company, determined to create jobs and opportunities for young passionate members of the community.
“I believe entrepreneurial skills are important tools for everyone, skills that are often left out of school curricula,” said Eric.
Having many friends and family who have been in the music business as artists, producers, and managers, Eric hopes to use TBN as a platform to bring their talents, and others within the community, together to propel each other forward. The first steps toward this was only 45 days after launching the label, when the first project to be produced under TBN was released – Wave in Time by EDaGod.
Moving forward, Eric is determined to continue uplifting those within the community who have come from similar economic situations as himself. Thorough by Nature has set out to continue expanding its horizons throughout 2021, as its partnerships with young, passionate members of the community continues to grow.
