In conversation with the talented Ryan Lenett

Talent cannot be bought, but it can be cultivated and honed. While the world is blessed with a handful of prodigies, there are many more successful self-made men and women who walked the narrow path to success with discipline, persistence, and focus. Ace financial consultant Ryan Lenett is one of them. In this exclusive interview, we get to know the man better, along with his strategies for success at work.

Q. Ryan, can you tell us a little about yourself?
A. I am Ryan Lenett, a 31-year-old serial entrepreneur. The core areas of my work are finance, communication, and sales. I love being an entrepreneur. It allows me to take charge of my time. Some may call me a perfectionist, but for me, it’s all about loving what I do and doing it well. I also love the freedom that being an entrepreneur brings. There are times, though, when things got rough in the past, when the burden of my entire workforce ends up on my shoulders. But it’s something I’d never trade for anything else.

Q. How would you best describe yourself?
A. Well, I am an entrepreneur at heart. I love starting new things, establishing them, and sharing the knowledge I gain through the duration. I like to think of myself as an idea person, but not in the superficial sense of shooting the breeze. No, I like ideas that work or understanding those that don’t. For me, it’s about bringing workable things to the table; whether it’s services or products, they have to take things forward. I don’t like being stagnated in one thing. This has made me a well-seasoned multi-tasker, and you’ll always find my fingers in more than one pie. It’s the life I have chosen, and I love every bit of it.

Q. What pulled you in the direction of a career as a financial consultant, Ryan?
A. I was good with numbers, and luck seemed to shine on me when it came to money. I have earned a very comfortable living for years and have built a salesforce over the years at a large scale. I find finance challenging. It’s like the current of a free-flowing river. You can never be sure of its direction, and there’s very little you can do to bring it under control. But if you persist and insist on finding your way through, the river obliges and shows you what you must do to overcome the hurdle.

I know that many people – some I know personally find finance intimidating. They get thrown off by dealing with large sums of money with numbers and calculations when dealing with customers financial livelihood, but they are yet to understand one thing – instinct. Finance is one part instinct and the other part all things numbers related. You need to learn to understand the nature of money. That allows you to understand it at its core. I love finance because it allows me to think outside of the box, keeps me on my toes, and gives me a sense of being alive.

Q. What are your future plans, Ryan?
A. I believe in planning for the present, and that’s enough for the future to take care of itself, and I don’t say this lightly. For me, every day is an opportunity to either succeed or fail and that lies in my hands and my work ethic that drives me to be the best and strive for higher goals. This makes me look forward to the day instead of that one goal that must be accomplished. Often, when the goal is achieved, people end up feeling lost and exhausted and waste time finding what they must do next. I don’t like that approach. I’d rather work each day and focus all my energies on making it work for us all.

Ryan Lenett’s a straight shooter. He doesn’t mince his words, and that, perhaps, is what makes him so successful at everything he does.
