James Paul Baratta, or Jimmy Baratta, has been keeping busy. Far from his success as a civil litigation attorney, Jimmy has branched out and dived into his passion for video games. Bookmarking his place in history, Jimmy Baratta takes millennials and Generation Z individuals into his groundbreaking initiative on esports.
Three years ago, in 2017, Jimmy founded ICEBRKRSCLAN. One of the biggest social media gaming communities. ICE, as it is fondly called, now reaches over two million subscribers downstream across its vast network of content creators, niche game pages, and competitive gamers.
Catapulting himself with the success of ICEBRKRSCLAN, Jimmy dipped his toes in something new. He began consulting for the entertainment law firm, Granderson des Rochers. Among the heavy-hitting names of the Granderson roster include J.Cole, YBN Nahmir, A$AP Rocky, Lil Dicky, Pete Davidson, and more. Then, in 2019, together with FaZe Clan seed investor Dave Chen, Jimmy Baratta founded the nonprofit collegiate esports league, the NACL. Esports seem to be the talk of the town, with more investors and individuals getting involved. The North American Collegiate League, or NACL, is leading the conversation. The esports organization’s partnership with streaming giant Huomao yields a staggering 500 thousand to 1.5 million viewers per tournament, each month. Additionally, the NACL maintains a 2 episode streaming deal with iSunTV.
The NACL’s success has led to several publication features in Forbes and Yahoo Finance, and found partners in David Meltzer of Sports 1 Marketing, Lawrence Chia of Samling, and Mark Cuban’s 3 Commas Clothing. The presence of such big names supporting the League has ensured its continuing growth and impact on sports, in general, in the coming years.
Determined to further the conversation on esports this year, Jimmy Baratta, as the Director of Talent for VY ESports on their exclusive event ‘EDGE,’ demonstrated the strength of his esports network. EDGE featured guests from FaZe Clan, Team Liquid, Derwin James of the Chargers, Cam Akers of the Rams, Jess Brohard, USC, UCLA, UCI, and more.
There seems to be no stopping Jimmy Baratta in his passion for esports, and its community. Keeping his hands full, he actively consults for his mentor Clinton Sparks of XSET as well as The Esportz Network. Jimmy is also the current Head of User Acquisition for the software developer, Wizard Labs under CEO Royce Disini, and is impressively the new Vice President of Special Events for XR Sports, of which Hector Rodriguez is on the board. Intent on shaping an Esports future for the gaming community, Jimmy recently accepted an offer to become a professor of esports at the University of California, Irvine.
With both hands on the wheel, Jimmy Baratta drives his audience on a one-way road to the future. Warming more than one egg in his basket, Jimmy sets the grand stage for esports in all his endeavors, explicitly directing the spotlight on the game-changing NACL.
