Esteemed TV personality and entrepreneur, John Basedow, has enchanted and infatuated viewers all over the United States with his live auction show, JB’s Fantastic Finds. The new media series offers a destination experience for viewers where they can bid on treasures found all over the world while simultaneously interacting with Basedow and fellow members as a community that’s mutually beneficial for everyone.

“I don’t believe that your first career success should define the rest of your life, so I didn’t allow Fitness Made Simple to define the rest of mine. Don’t let other folk pigeonhole you or restrict your future goals. You can have as many passions as you’d like and choose to pursue them at any moment. There are so many opportunities to find what makes you and others happy. Past success should never limit future possibilities,” said Basedow.
With tremendous ambition and limitless opportunities, Basedow got inspired while watching fellow entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk on the DailyVee Youtube show. Vaynerchuk’s story about how he evolved with a career that entailed selling collectible cards on new media outlets lit a bulb of inspiration for Basedow, and thus came the creation of JB’s Fantastic Finds.
“I started listening to Gary talk about entrepreneurship and one of the many businesses he made by collecting and reselling baseball cards. His energy is infectious and I began brainstorming how I could use the methods he repeatedly advises to innovate new media with a couple of my interests I never really pursued.
Though it may come as a surprise, I collected rocks and gems as a kid and never really lost interest in their beauty, back stories and compelling characteristics. I also like making great deals and finding hidden treasures. With JB’s Fantastic Finds, I could give myself and viewers the opportunity to benefit from all that and create a positive impact,” said Basedow.
Basedow managed to accomplish much more than just the creation of a talk show where trinkets are sold. With JB’s Fantastic Finds, success sparked faster than the speed of light when members grew into a community amongst themselves, a community that adores their handsome host. This community is one that many describe as a place to meet amazing people, but most especially interact with a host that holds each viewer in high regard.
“The funny part about all of it is that it’s like we’re family but it’s actually an auction. We can be bidding on the same thing and joking at the same time. There are never hard feelings. You can be upset you didn’t win but still happy because you adore the person that wins and feel happy for them. I don’t know how he managed to, but John created an environment where all participants mirror his genuine personality,” said viewer Sonia Engle Murphy.

“I love how when he’s describing things, he gives you a background history on it. He is as genuine and authentic as the gems. What I appreciate even more is how much he retains about his viewers. He can remember so many of us by name and state, and there was one occasion where he even remembered my ring size when he happened to pull out a beautiful ruby. You don’t find hosts like John on other shows, you can feel that he puts his heart and soul into everything he does,” said viewer Sonia Engle Murphy.
JB’s Fantastic Finds saw its greatest increase in viewers when Basedow created a commercial to advertise the show on national television, using an innovative and unprecedented combination of traditional and new media where TV is used to drive viewers to Facebook. The ‘I found my treasure’ theme that permeates the thirty second spot is enthusiastically uttered by various actual JBFF item winners and has spawned the often repeated catchphrases ‘Sold Sold Sold’ and ‘Such A Deal.’ The humorous and clever commercial rewarded the pioneer entrepreneur with an exponential increase in viewers, as JBFF grew from 400 members before hitting the national TV scene in August 2021 to over 25,000 presently.
“John was the first to think of doing the ads on cable TV even though the show aired on Facebook media, and it really exploded after that. Not only did he draw me in with the commercial, but he innovated Facebook Auctions in general to a whole new level of exposure. Most people didn’t really know about them before, and he should be recognized for his excellence,”said viewer Andrea Lee.
While Basedow’s incredible success speaks for itself, he continues to innovate past the threshold of limitations as an entrepreneur and TV personality. When asked what their favorite part about watching JB’s Fantastic Finds is, most viewers had responses similar to that of Gaye Koutrelakos.
