Keith Nelson Transitions from Sports to Comedy

There are no yardsticks in measuring talent; neither is there a metric for determining who is more talented or whose talent outweighs the other. However, by effectively harnessing their talents and putting them to use, coupled with a certain degree of work ethics, consistency, and perseverance, some individuals remain a shining light to others because of the amount of work they have put into making their talents work for them. When it comes to talent, it is not every day that we see someone equally talented in sports and possess the ability to arouse laughter from any audience regardless of size. Keith Nelson is a former athlete who found love on the mic and has used comedy to reach out to people of all colors.

In a career spanning more than twenty-five years, Keith has been making people laugh in all fifty states of the United States and beyond. In recognition of his effort as a comedian, he has made appearances on Entertainment Tonight and Hulu’s Comedy Time and starred in the TV show Electives. He also co-wrote, co-starred, and executive produced Not for Nothin, which currently airs on Amazon Prime. He has also appeared in hit independent movies Mobsters and Mormons and The R.M. In 2011, he was featured in Who’s Who. There were articles on him in popular publications such as New York Weekly, LA Wire, US News, LA Times, US Reporter, Entertainment Monthly News, Miami Wire, and many more.

Away from the screens and the stage, Keith is also a talented athlete who held the Masters High Jump record for seven years from 2000 to 2007. He finished second in the World Masters Nike Championships in 1998, and he has won three National Championships, two outdoors, and one indoors. He was ranked  number 1 in the world outdoors in 2000 and  number 1 indoors in 2006. He also has his third-degree black belt in kung fu and is working on his getting to the next level.

As an athlete, Keith is a unique talent and could be considered somewhat a generational talent. In his comedy material, there is a smartness, coolness and absolute finesse in how he delivers, such that every age group and demographic can relate with his content. Keith’s comedy is top-rated among people aged between 25 to 55.

On what separates him from his peers, Keith believes that his background in sports has taught him to be comfortable with large crowds and audiences. He also possesses the ability to cross all barriers to make everyone laugh no matter where they are from.

As a top-rated comedian, he is committed to helping people forget their sorrows and embrace laughter and happiness.
