QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA — In response to the devastating wildfires that have wreaked havoc across the globe, Australian tech company The Fire Knight has unveiled a groundbreaking new fire suppression system, The Bushfire Knight, aimed at curbing the spread of outdoor fires without the need for human intervention.
The system, which is being hailed as a significant innovation in the fight against wildfires, utilizes advanced smart technology to detect flames from up to 30 metres away and automatically release an eco-friendly liquid to suppress the fire. Four flame sensors linked to rotating nozzles give the system 360-degree protection, offering an unprecedented layer of defense against the rapid spread of wildfires.
The unveiling of The Bushfire Knight comes at a time when the United Nations has warned that wildfires could increase by a third by 2050. The catastrophic Australian Black Summer bushfires of 2019-2020, which killed nearly 500 people and destroyed over 18 million hectares of land, stands as a chilling reminder of the devastation that wildfires can cause.
The Fire Knight’s Founder, Bill Kavvadas, a 30-year veteran in the property development industry, was driven to action by the horrific scenes from the Black Summer fires. “We wanted to build something that had the capability to identify a fire threat, extinguish and suppress it, alert emergency services, and support them in reducing the spread with the ultimate goal of minimizing property damage and loss of life,” Kavvadas said.
Unlike traditional firefighting methods, The Bushfire Knight system’s detection capability enables it to provide early alerts to both the Fire Knight Command Centre and local authorities, giving emergency services precious time to respond. Additionally, the fire-retardant liquid used can last on the ground for up to 14 days, adding an extended barrier against further spread.
An on-board camera adds to the system’s functionality, allowing real-time monitoring of fire suppression. This monitoring capacity not only enhances the effectiveness of the system but also provides valuable insights for authorities in managing and combating fires.
The commercial launch of The Bushfire Knight is a remarkable milestone in firefighting technology. The system is available for order today, providing a tool that could revolutionize the way communities and countries approach fire prevention and management.
Moreover, The Fire Knight team’s decision to affiliate with global manufacturers and adhere to ISO standards in different countries shows a commitment to maintaining quality and contributing to local employment worldwide.
Wildfires have emerged as one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time, with the potential to cause immense loss of life and economic damage. With the launch of The Bushfire Knight, The Fire Knight company is not only offering a state-of-the-art solution but also sending a powerful message that technology can play a crucial role in safeguarding both human lives and our planet.
