I embarked on my professional journey in the hospitality industry during my high school days when I secured a seasonal position at a boutique hotel in Istanbul. This experience ignited my passion, prompting me to pursue a career in this field after graduation. Being an enthusiast of modern languages, I was particularly drawn to the Front Office Manager (FOM) role at the hotel because it allowed me direct communication with international tourists.
After dedicating two years of hard work, I was promoted to the position of Manager and successfully completed courses in hospitality and tourism management. At the age of 24, I became the youngest manager during that period, having worked in hospitality management in Istanbul for 15 years. This incredible period not only allowed me to form new friendships but also provided numerous opportunities to meet partners, tourists, and clients, all of which I embraced with my experience and positive attitude, overcoming challenges along the way.
Following my 15-year tenure in the hospitality industry, I made the decision to transition my career into travel and leisure. I was fortunate to join the ranks of Istanbul’s top tour operators, where I assumed responsibility for coordinating charter flights to and from international destinations. This career shift introduced me to the fast-paced and unpredictable world of airport operations, which proved to be an invaluable experience. Drawing on my prior hospitality experience and the strong relationships I had cultivated, I successfully navigated and conquered challenges in this new profession.
Of course, along with the good came occasional unusual troubles. I must acknowledge the difficult days when seemingly unsolvable problems arose. However, it was not due to any fault of mine. The tourism sector was bustling at the time, and the airline companies struggled to keep up. There were instances when we would wake up at the airport only to discover that a flight had been canceled due to a bird strike during takeoff or a technical malfunction. Thus, another decade was spent in operations management.
After relocating to the United Kingdom, I continued my career in the aviation industry and had the privilege of being hired at Manchester International Airport. The aviation industry had a firm hold on me, as they say, once it’s in your blood, there’s no escape. Alongside my work, I remained committed to continuous learning and expanding my knowledge in aviation, literature, and humanities. I completed courses in administrative leadership, business management, cyber security, and IT TLM coding. The experiences and challenges I encountered while working in the English aviation industry ultimately led me to establish my own company. Now, I run my business from my office and aspire to expand my client base.

The name of my company, “Helios Travel Agency,” pays homage to my admiration for the rich ancient Greek history of Istanbul and Turkey. Many historical sites and museums in these regions bear Greek names, and this connection holds great significance to my cultural identity and heritage. Both countries hold a special place in my heart.
