Rising Music Artist OGD Surprises the Hip-Hop Industry with His Unmatched Energy and Passion

There are numerous gifted and young music artists today who are pursuing their dreams to become relevant names in the hip-hop industry, but none as equally vibrant and passionate as OGD, who has generated phenomenal achievement on various streaming platforms. Best known for his remarkable single “Walk It Out,” which has attracted 1.2 million streams, he is a hip-hop superstar in the making as he continues to overwhelm audiences online with a collective streaming record of ten million streams for his original creations.

OGD, or Our Generations Dead, surprised music fans and even record label executives with his unstoppable rise to popularity. The release of his single “Mad Flows” in 2017 proved to be quite a success as it headlined many shows and charted on the iTunes Charts in less than no time. While “Mad Flows” was his first studio single, his very first original song was “20s and 100s.” His most popular album to date is titled Killing Spree and is considered to be his defining release that highlights his songwriting and mixing skills. His other famous releases include “Dangerous,” “Destruction,” and “King,” to name a few.

Born David Davenport on November 7, 2001 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the nineteen-year-old rising hip-hop sensation has been into music since he was four years old. He was influenced by his father and his co-artist Madman1. One of his greatest motivations in creating music is his mother, Angela Murphy, whom he promised his success in the music industry. OGD attended Franklin Central High School and joined choir competitions taught by Andrew Knaup, Brad Gardener, and Jared Yoder. His experience in choir competitions groomed him further in preparation for the time he decided to pursue a professional music career. He was familiar with the demands of the industry, its unpredictability, the expectations of music fans, and what it takes to truly excel in it.

As a teenager, OGD was strongly influenced by the artistry of the legendary Eminem, Madman1, and The Game, among others. It was their distinct musical stylings that shaped his lyricism, personal style in developing melodies, and strategies to attract massive audiences. Eventually, he came across Hopsin’s music and became fascinated with his unique brand of music. Together with Madman1 and Chxd Lewis, he travelled to Ohio for a rare meet-and-greet with Hopsin. It turned out to be quite an unforgettable experience for OGD as Hopsin pulled him on stage and asked him to perform his hit single “Sag My Pants.” He was only sixteen years old at that time, but he impressed the crowd with his innate gift.

One of his biggest accomplishments so far includes establishing MBMGlobal Records in partnership with his father and Madman1. With OGD and Madman1’s total streams combined, the two artists have reached a staggering 20 million streams in total. If anything, MBMGlobal Records has mastered how to attract audiences on streaming platforms, market to the right age groups, and create engaging promotional materials that have worked greatly to the advantage of its artists.

OGD’s faith is also instrumental in his recent accomplishments. By drawing music fans to his music, he hopes to bring them closer to God. By looking at his life and how far he has come with hard work, persistence, and faith, he hopes to inspire people to never give up on their dreams. “A message to my fans, anything is possible with God, say a prayer on it and let him do the work,” he shared.

As he looks forward to bringing his music further into different parts of the world, the young rapper is laying down plans to go on tour once circumstances allow it. Clearly, he is gaining momentum very fast and is expected to come up with fresh and explosive projects that will impact this generation in the coming years.
