Rob Morton Moves Hearts With Soulful Music, Shares His Pain Of What Fueled His Songwriting

Known for his soulful lyrics and warm vocal tone, Connecticut-based singer and songwriter Rob Morton is finding an audience with his heartfelt songs.  And it all started with being a dad.

Rob’s music has touched many hearts around the world.  His song, “Just One More Day With You,” has gained national recognition and has been played on the radio. In total, his songs have over a million listens across social media and major streaming platforms – and the numbers continue to rise every day.

Asked what fueled his passion for writing music, Rob Morton shared a personal story.  He told us about how his family had to face a traumatic medical situation years ago, when one of his sons became seriously ill. “We spent months in the hospital.  It was awful.  Going through those dark times makes you reassess your life,” Rob told us. “I wanted to be a good role model for my sons.  And I promised myself, if we ever got out of that situation, I would be a better dad, pursue what was important to me, and become a person with more daily gratitude in general.” Thankfully, his son has since fully recovered. But this life event ignited  Rob’s devotion to songwriting, and music became an outlet for him – to share love and pain and humor, and lessons he’s learned throughout his life.

“It’s become a world where anyone can make a music track on a computer in their room and whip up a song with a bangin’ beat, like one you’d hear in a club,” shared Rob Morton. “But I believe starting with real emotions, using real instruments, and treating songwriting like a craft – taking great care with the lyrics – really makes a difference. Over the years, fans have complimented me on my lyrics, which to me is the biggest compliment I can get – someone connecting to the words.

“I believe writing is the most important part of the song. If the song happens to turn out catchy through the process, that’s just a bonus. It is more important for me to convey a concept or a feeling through words.”

And Rob Morton definitely tells stories through his music, which is why he has touched so many hearts. His song “Lucky Back Then” is about daily gratitude and how people don’t often appreciate what they have until it’s gone. From the opening of the song, “I wish I knew I was lucky back then…” the artist immediately pulls his listener closer, wanting to hear more. His most popular single, “Just One More Day With You,” has hundreds of thousands of listens and tackles the pain of losing a loved one.  On social media, the song has been covered by many artists from various countries, such as the Philippines, Denmark, Australia, Germany, and America.

Rob has played live in venues in New York City and mostly across his home state Connecticut, including the renowned Fairfield Theater Company. To date, the artist has released two full-length albums, Private Moon and Lucky Back Then, and is currently working on his 3rd album.
