Rupert Murdoch and Actress Jerry Hall Reportedly to Split

US news outlets are reporting that media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and actress Jerry Hall are divorcing.

For Mr. Murdoch, 91, the divorce would be his fourth. The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger was Ms. Hall’s first husband. She is now divorced.

The lawyers for Mr. Murdoch and Ms. Hall, who were married in 2016 at home in the heart of London, have not yet responded.

According to the New York Times, their split surprises people close to the family.

Both that newspaper and the Washington Post quoted unnamed sources who were aware of the split.

Mr. Murdoch, whose News Corporation empire owns major publications including Fox News and the Wall Street Journal in the US as well as The Sun and The Times in the UK, was rumored to be spending more time with his new wife in the past.

The millionaire tweeted that he was “the luckiest AND happiest man in the world” at the moment of his marriage and that he would cease using the social media site.

His older son Lachlan was chosen as his successor in 2018. Additionally, Mr. Murdoch sold the majority of 21st Century Fox to the Walt Disney Company.

Additionally, the couple had frequently been photographed out in public together.

The New York Times reported that Ms. Hall was observed “doting” on her partner during his 90th birthday celebration the previous year.

The Texas model-turned-actor has four children with Mr. Jagger, with whom she had a long-term relationship before becoming an actress. In 1990, the couple got married in Bali, Indonesia, during a Hindu ceremony. However, less than ten years later, the High Court of Justice in London dissolved the marriage.

From 1956 to 1967, Mr. Murdoch was wed to Australian flight attendant Patricia Booker; from 1967 to 1999, to Scottish-born journalist Anna Mann; and from 1999 to 2014, to Chinese-born entrepreneur Wendi Deng.

The two have a total of 10 kids between their marriages.
