Shyla Day: Music Artist and Humanitarian

Shyla Day is an Award-Winning Music Artist, TEDx Speaker, Best-Selling Author, Social Media Influencer, and International Humanitarian. She has been globally recognized with awards and nominations in music, humanitarianism, social media, and entrepreneurship. Her music has been distributed to 189 countries and played in the largest retailers, libraries, and airports worldwide. She has been nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year four times and won the All-American Small Business Championship as a teenager.

Her talent as a musician made her the youngest performer nominated for the Los Angeles Music Awards for Female Singer-Songwriter. However, her positive impact through thousands of charitable organizations globally makes her stand out from the rest. Shyla led a passionate talk on the TED platform with over 30 million subscribers, called “Music for Global Impact.” During her talk, she discussed unconventional humanitarian efforts. Because of her humanitarian work, she has been awarded International Humanitarian of the Year twice.

We sat down with Shyla Day to discuss her career and humanitarian work.

Question: Can you tell us a bit more about what you do?

Shyla Day: I use my platform in entertainment as a music artist and as a social media personality to positively impact as many lives as I can.

Q: How did your career begin?

SD: I began my career as a teenager when performing out with my guitar. I became my own brand and, before you know it, I was touring full summers with a non-profit organization called “Tunes for Tots.” This allowed us to raise multiple seven figures for many causes.

Q: Was it then that you began your humanitarian efforts?

SD: Yes, I began by helping fund a dormitory in Uganda and supporting organizations such as the Make a Wish Foundation. Since then, I have been able to support thousands of charitable organizations through my efforts using music and my platform as a social media influencer. For example, I have represented an organization in Uganda for over eight years now. I was able to pass a bill for an emergency exiting strategy that affected upwards of 2.1 million collegiate-level students in California. All of which was possible through music.

Q: What motivates you to keep the humanitarian efforts going?

SD: Humans are incredible, but they also go through tough times. I advocate for humans because I am human. I choose to do this work through my music because if music can affect plants and animals, imagine how music can affect humans.

As a musician and a humanitarian, Shyla Day has taken her profession to the next level by combining her passion with her beliefs. She has spent many years advocating for humans and trying to create a better world for everyone throughout her career. We hope she continues to do so while inspiring her followers and those who take the time to listen to her positive message.
