In 2017, Ventura County witnessed the birth of a culinary phenomenon that would redefine its  food landscape. Trendi Eats, conceived from a simple yet captivating video of Raquel Jasso  enjoying a meal, has since evolved into a vibrant platform championing local restaurants and  food trucks. Javier Lara and Raquel Jasso the founders have leveraged the power of social media  to boost local eateries’ visibility and sales, offering a lifeline to many during their most  challenging times.

The journey of Trendi Eats began almost unexpectedly. After witnessing the positive response  from their first video, the Laras continued to spotlight local culinary gems across social media  platforms. The result was an immediate uptick in patronage for the featured establishments, with  grateful owners reaching out to express their thanks. This early success prompted the expansion  of Trendi Eats’ presence to Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, casting a wider net to capture the  rich tapestry of Ventura County’s food scene.

The pandemic COVID-19 brought unforeseen challenges to the food industry, with many  establishments struggling to stay afloat. Inspired by Walt Disney’s visionary journey in creating  Disneyland, the team behind Trendi Eats saw an opportunity to make a significant impact. They  conceptualized the 805 Night Market, a food festival aimed at supporting struggling businesses  while offering the community a taste of diverse culinary traditions reminiscent of Asia’s vibrant  night markets. The 805 Night Market has since become a cultural staple, offering an eclectic mix  of cuisines that cater to every palate. From the fiery flavors of Tijuana-style tacos and pambazos  to the exotic allure of giant fried squids and decadent desserts, the festival encapsulates the spirit  of culinary exploration and community support.

Trendi Eats’ contributions to revitalizing Ventura County’s culinary scene have not gone  unnoticed. The initiative has been recognized with several awards from local government  officials, including the Mayor of the City of Oxnard, for its positive impact on the community  and its success in attracting visitors from across California and beyond. These accolades  underscore the significant role Trendi Eats has played in not only supporting local businesses  during trying times but also in fostering a sense of unity and celebration of cultural diversity  through food.
