Trucks With Room to Spare Inc, the Transportation Industry’s Authority in Disaster Relief

A single person has the capability to change the world. However, when the community bands together toward achieving a common goal, the impact becomes more powerful. Trucks With Room to Spare Inc. is a nonprofit that believes in the importance of cooperation and collaboration.

The impressive organization was created way back in 2018 when trucker Shelli Conaway saw firsthand the devastation caused by Hurricane Michael. What was supposed to be just another day at the job turned out to be one of the most life-changing experiences for the outstanding woman.

As she passed through the hurricane-stricken roads of Florida, the vast destruction awakened her need to lend a hand. She realized that the state of the highways would make it much more difficult for aid to reach the survivors. Immediately springing to action, she took it upon herself to haul basic needs, such as water and food items, to the affected areas.

Once she had addressed the pressing and urgent need to deliver essential goods to the community, the incredible individual wasted no time and called on the help of fellow owner-operators. Shelli Conaway then created a Facebook group to get in touch with them. As a result, many of her fellow truck drivers responded and offered to participate in her brilliant idea to haul necessities to the people of Florida affected by Hurricane Michael.

This fantastic occurrence marked the very first relief operations made by a wonderful group of people who will later become Trucks With Room to Spare Inc. In April of 2019, they applied for and received their official nonprofit status. Since then, the group has not stopped serving people who require assistance.

At present, the group has volunteer drivers from across the country who donate their time and equipment to ensure families and communities in need will have the needed supplies in times of calamity.

Now, the incredible organization has become an integral part of a network of small, grassroots and organized nonprofits and ministries that mobilize during disasters. These groups work closely with tragedy-affected communities. Some of them are responsible for the cleanup process, such as clearing the trees off houses for the elderly and helping families shovel mud out of their homes.

As for Trucks With Room to Spare Inc, they are responsible for hauling goods and providing delivery services for any aid that needs to be transported. Despite not having federal funding, these incredible organizations are known to substantially ease the burden of prominent organizations such as FEMA and the Red Cross. Together, they form a holistic and indispensable force to the rehabilitation of areas impacted by calamities.

Shelli Conaway and her admirable group of volunteers are committed to continuing their noble cause. Moving forward, they hope that more people will know about their organization and realize the significance of truckers and the transportation industry, not only during times of disaster but in moving the community forward toward progress and growth. Learn more about Trucks With Room to Spare Inc and how to help their inspiring cause by visiting their official Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
