USC Athletics’ Partnership With Black Girl Sunscreen Is Meaningful Across the Board

On September 10, 2022, the University of Southern California (USC) hosted an event in partnership with Black Girl Sunscreen (BGS). The event was meant to teach students how important it is to wear sunscreen all year long. BGS also awarded a $2500 scholarship to one student in attendance.

Black Girl Sunscreen is a brand of sun protection that was made to break down barriers in the sun care industry and in society. The brand’s main goal is to teach people of color how important it is to wear sunscreen all year round. BGS is essential because it provides a much-needed resource for people of color who are underrepresented in the sun care industry.

USC Athletics was looking for a partner that could provide students with education on sunscreen and its importance. They also wanted a partner that would be able to offer a scholarship to one student in attendance. BGS was the perfect partner for USC Athletics because of the brand’s focus on educating people of color about sunscreen.

This partnership is valuable for many reasons, some being that Black Girl Sunscreen’s focus on educating people of color about sunscreen aligns with USC Athletics’ goals. The partnership also gives USC students access to resources that they might not have had otherwise. Last but not least, the partnership gives BGS a great chance to reach a new audience and keep breaking barriers in the sun care industry.

The partnership with USC Athletics will help BGS achieve its goals by giving the brand a chance to reach new people. The scholarship that was given to one of the students there will help BGS reach its goal of giving people of color access to resources.

The Founder, Shontay Lundy, says, “One of Black Girl Sunscreens’ many passions is supporting young women who are doing phenomenal things. Sponsoring USC’s Women’s Track & Field team was a no-brainer for Black Girl Sunscreen,”

This partnership means that USC Athletics is committed to providing students with education on sunscreen and its importance. Furthermore, it shows that USC Athletics is willing to partner with organizations that are working to break barriers in their industries. This partnership provides USC students access to resources they might not otherwise have, helps BGS reach a new audience, and continues to break barriers in the sun care industry and social impacts.

BGS sunscreen products are unique because they are made with people of color in mind. The products are designed to be non-greasy, non-sticky, and water-resistant. In addition, the products contain ingredients that are beneficial for people of color’s skin.

The event was a great opportunity for students to learn about the importance of sunscreen and meet other students passionate about sun safety. This is a tremendous milestone, and Lundy says, ”Black Girl Sunscreen was eager to make a difference in the lives of these talented young women as well as provide them with the necessary sunscreen products to keep their skin protected from UVA/UVB rays, skin cancer & other sun damage effects while competing in outdoor track meets.”

BGS is a sunscreen company that is making a difference in the lives of people of color by educating them on the importance of sun safety and providing products that are beneficial for their skin. We hope to see more partnerships like this in the future!
