Van Buketi Shares His Story on Achieving the American Dream

The American Dream believes that anyone, regardless of where they were from or what social status they were born into, can attain an enviable version of success in a society in which upward mobility is possible for everyone. For many people, the American Dream is believed to be achieved through sacrifice, hard work, and risk-taking rather than by chance. In pursuit of this dream, Prospere Buketi flew 7,000 miles from the Republic of Congo to the United States in 2014.

Prosere Van Buketi is a trailblazing entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of Van Travel Business, a multi-enterprise company. As an immigrant, he had nothing on him but his dreams of a prosperous future and the determination to get it.

When he arrived in the US, there were no jobs available to him, as he did not even understand English. He painstakingly learned the language and was finally able to land a job as a cleaner in an airplane. He eventually got a better job as a forklift operator before finding another one as a picker at Walmart, where he eventually became an HR clerk.

To actualize his dream of entering the travel industry, Prospere took a course to become a travel agent and was soon booking flights and hotel rooms for his clients. His experience as a travel agent solidified his dream of making it big in the industry. He was determined to start his own company from the ground up.

He consulted with his uncle, and together, they mapped out a way for Van to utilize his skills and passion as a travel agent to launch a successful business. However, the plan was halted as the pandemic struck and the world went into lockdown. As embassies closed and movement was restricted, the travel industry was one of the worst-hit, and Van watched his plans flush out the drain. But he did not uproot his whole life and fly all those miles to give up at the first bump in the road.

He talked to his uncle again. They both came up with the brilliant idea to combine travel services with other services such as website development, social media management, and dispatch services that would ultimately ensure maximum customer satisfaction. To this end, he established his company, Van Travel Business, and offers customers a smooth sailing, stress-free travel experience with services like visa acquisition, flight booking, hotel reservation, rental, cruises, dispatches truck service, money transfer worldwide, and worldwide shipping with DHL Express.

The company also offers website design and development services, motion and graphic design, entertainment, audiovisual, and social media marketing to help their clients reach their audience faster through print and digital means while working within a budget.

“Our agents work hard to provide good service, and they are there to work on your budget. As a result, they can get the best deal for you worldwide, be it international or domestic,” he said.

Six years after first landing on the shores of America, Van Buketi proves that the American dream is indeed achievable with hard work and determination. He draws his motivation from a childhood proclamation he made long ago when he told his friends and family that he would one day own and run a successful business.

“None of them believed me until they started seeing my actions. What motivates me the most is when I see how the world is changing, and [seeing how] building your brand is such a huge thing,” he shared. To learn more about this trailblazing go-getter Van Buketi and his company, Van Travel Business, visit his website.
